Clach Thoull.

No it's not the name of a new rock band though it would be good I suppose, no it's a rock that I took the dogs to today. Murphy seemed to enjoy the walk anyway. Balain was as usual a wee bit slow to come (it's a Beagle thing).
The mighty Clach Thoull - you are supposed to go through the hole and make a wish while you walk (but don't tell anyone what you wish or it won't come true).
Murphy seemed to just wish the walk would never end.

It was very mild even though it was overcast and my wish not to get wet worked as it didn't rain. (I didn't tell anyone that was what I wished for until I got home.)

Balain just wished to sniff everything - not in this shot he's found something interesting to sniff. Should have wished he would stop sniffing so much.

I talked to a potter friend here on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, today and she said, "What terrible news about Alan from Scotland." That's the kind of community this is becoming, where the death of a Scottish potter we didn't know until a couple of weeks ago saddens us all. Our love and prayers to Alan's friends and family from us in the USA.

Sorry we have lost such a talented person who obviously lived life to the full and loved his dogs. Hope your canine friends bring some comfort to your mum and close friends.

How odd, I saw Alan's blog still posted on Hannah's blog and just wanted to visit again. I see Becky was just here on Oct 30. What an amazing thing, that we never met Alan but he is still in our minds. I truly miss his comments on my blog. And I loved his blue rutile...........

Alan: altough my wife Angela and myself never had the privilage meeting you in life..sadly when you smiled at us at 2.50pm 15/9/08 sitting in our smart car a the the connel bridge little did you know or us that 3 minutes later I would be attending to you in such traggic circumstances, you have never been far from our thoughts from that day.. to-day we decided to try and find out more about our unknown biker and got your name from the paper, I am so pleased I have found this site and can see now that god needed a potter for his garden.. I hope in your last minutes I was able to give you some comfort.. and would send our sincere sympathy to your family, whom would be devastated by your untimely death.. if the family wished to contact me I would be availible and only too willing to pass on my thoughts,, your fellow bikers Davy & Angela xo N.Ireland

Dear David,
I've just popped back to look at my friend Alan's blog again, a regular thing even now and cried when I read your message. It was a relief to know that someone was there with him. Thank you. I will contact the folks up at the pottery and let them know your message is here.
